SAYREVILLE – Following a series of transfers, an administrator in the Sayreville School District will assume a new position for the 2018-19 school year as a vice principal of Sayreville War Memorial High School (SWMHS).
On July 26, Board of Education members approved the transfer of Michael Salum from the position of supervisor of social studies, related arts and extracurricular activities to become a vice principal at SWMHS.
Board President Kevin Ciak, vice President Anthony Esposito, and board members Lucy Bloom, Christopher Callahan, Karen Rubio and John Walsh voted “yes” on transferring Salum to his new role; board members Daniel Balka, Phyllis Batko and Thomas Biesiada voted “no” on the transfer.
According to district administrators, Salum will receive a salary of $105,775 as a vice principal for 2018-19.
Salum will succeed Richard Gluchowski in that position. Gluchowski was transferred from the high school and will serve as principal of the Sayreville Middle School for 2018-19; he will receive a salary of $134,675.
Gluchowski, in turn, succeeded Donna Jakubik as middle school principal after the board transferred her to the new position of director of special projects; she will receive a salary of $150,875.
With the transfer of Salum, SWMHS will have two new vice principals for 2018-19. Salum will join Katelyn Zurawski, whose employment was previously approved by board members, as both begin their first year as vice principals at the high school.
Zurawski succeeded Dale Rubino, who left the district to become principal of Spotswood High School. Zurawski will receive a salary of $102,535.
Prior to being hired as a vice principal, Zurawski worked at the high school as a mathematics teacher. To fill the position after Zurawski was hired in her new role, board members approved the employment of Amanda Gutschmidt as a mathematics teacher at SWMHS. Gutschmidt will receive a prorated salary of $61,500.
