As families transition from summer to fall, the YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge and South Amboy (Y-MEWSA) offers programs for school-age children to keep them active, busy and engaged in a caring and safe environment during the critical hours after school.
Our staff engages youth in learning opportunities and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve.
In addition to supplementing what they have learned in school, students participate in interactive learning models that engage critical thinking skills with homework time, STEM activities (science, technology, engineering and math) and a variety of choices, clubs and enrichments to explore and develop their interests and talents.
HEPA (healthy eating and physical activity) habits are a daily part of our programs.
Y-MEWSA’s after-school program runs from September to June with before-school and holiday care at many locations.
The Y also offers early learning programs for infants, toddlers and preschoolers where every child is treated as an individual, learning through hands-on activities in an age-appropriate environment. Our curriculum creates purposeful and productive experiences that help children grow in all areas of development and prepares them for a lifelong love of learning.
