Residents who wanted to run for a seat on their local school board had until July 30 to file a nominating petition. The school board election will be held on Nov. 6.
In the Colts Neck K-8 School District, the terms of board members Dr. Kimberly Raymond, Kevin O’Connor and Heather Tormey will end in December. Tormey is not seeking re-election. Four residents are seeking the three available three-year terms: Raymond, O’Connor, Marci Klein and Richard Klein.
In response to a question from the News Transcript, the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, which received nominating petitions from the residents who are running for the board, said Marci Klein and Richard Klein reside at the same address in Colts Neck. They could not be reached for comment to say if they are related.
In the Freehold Borough K-8 School District, the terms of Paul Jensen, Michael Lichardi and Susan Greitz will end in December. Greitz is not seeking re-election. Four residents are seeking the three available three-year terms: Jensen, Lichardi, Jamie Corbett and Ronald Reich.
In the Freehold Township K-8 School District, the terms of Mary Cozzolino, Jason Levy and Kay Poklemba-Holtz will end in December. Seeking the three available three-year terms are eight residents: Cozzolino, Levy, Poklemba-Holtz, Sherlock Dow, Brian Lipnicky, Richard Pelaia, Kerry Vendittoli and Paul Wichansky.
In the Freehold Regional High School District (FRHSD), the terms of Peter Bruno of Howell, Heshy Moses of Freehold Borough and Jennifer Sutera of Manalapan will end in December. Bruno, Moses and Sutera are running unopposed for new three-year terms.
Also in the FRHSD, Englishtown’s representative on the school board, Diana Cappielo, was appointed to an open seat earlier this year. Cappiello will run unopposed in November for a one-year unexpired term.
Under the board’s voting rules, voters in Howell and Farmingdale will be able to vote for Bruno, voters in Freehold Borough and Freehold Township will be able to vote for Moses, and voters in Manalapan and Englishtown will be able to vote for Sutera and Cappiello.
In the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District, two three-year terms representing Manalapan and one three-year term representing Englishtown will be on the Nov. 6 ballot.
Board member Lori Semel is running unopposed for a new three-year term representing Englishtown.
James Raffone, Ryan Urgo and board member Joanne Schechter are the three candidates seeking the two available three-year terms representing Manalapan.
The nine-member board consists of eight residents of Manalapan and one resident of Englishtown.
In the Marlboro K-8 School District, the terms of Robyn Wolfe, Stephen Shifrinson and Ellen Xu will end in December. Xu is not seeking re-election.
The six candidates seeking the three available three-year terms are Wolfe, Shifrinson, Kathleen Amster, Rakesh Chandwani, Sarah Harris Kreisler and Michelle Montecalvo.
