SAYREVILLE – No recommendations for corrective action were made in the 2017 municipal audit of Sayreville.
At a Borough Council meeting on July 23, council members passed a resolution accepting the 2017 audit. Under state law, the governing body of every municipality must have an annual audit of its books, accounts and financial transactions.
According to borough officials, the audit contains no recommendations, and because no recommendations were made, officials were not required to prepare a corrective action plan.
By passing the resolution, the council certified to the New Jersey Local Finance Board that all members of the governing body reviewed, as a minimum, the sections of the annual audit entitled “General Comments and Recommendations.”
In other business, the council passed a resolution appointing Joseph McMahon, Peter Dufrat, Matthew Zebrowski, Marcin Piatek, Michael Valentin and George Lestruck as police officers in the Sayreville Police Department. Each appointment is effective Aug. 13.
Additionally, Mark DeGuzman, Cheyenne Grant and Richard Klein were sworn in as police officers in the Sayreville Police Department at the meeting.
The council also passed a resolution making an application to the Local Finance Board for its review and and/or approval of a proposed tax appeal refunding bond ordinance authorizing the issuance of $500,000 in refunding bonds.
Finally, the council passed resolutions awarding contracts to each of the following: a $243,399 contract to New Jersey Fire Equipment of Greenbook for self-contained breathing apparatus; an $82,865 contract to Field Turf USA, Inc. for the resurfacing of the basketball court at War Memorial Park and labyrinth resurfacing; a $64,616 contract to Beyer Ford of Morristown for one 2019 Ford F-250 pickup truck and one 2018 Ford F-350 pickup truck; a $54,950 contract to Video Corporation of America for the furnishing and installation of a video conference system in the Office of Emergency Management; and a $52,561 contract to Condoris of Annville, Pennsylvania, for public safety complex server virtualization and storage. The council additionally passed a resolution authorizing the extension of a contract with Rachels-Michele Oil, Co. Inc. for one additional two-year term.
Council President Victoria Kilpatrick and council members Daniel Buchanan, Steven Grillo, Pat Lembo and Mary Novak voted in favor of the above actions taken at the council meeting. Councilman Ricci Melendez was absent.
