Brunswick Memorial Home has been honored by the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) with the 2018 Pursuit of Excellence Award.
Less than 1 percent of funeral homes – only 159 firms from around the world – received this prestigious recognition, placing Brunswick Memorial among an elite group of funeral service providers, according to information provided by the funeral home. Pursuit of Excellence Award recipients raise the bar on funeral service excellence by adhering to the highest ethical and professional standards and providing unsurpassed service to families and communities.
To earn an NFDA Pursuit of Excellence Award, a participating funeral home must meet or exceed business standards set forth by the program and demonstrate proficiency in key areas of funeral service, such as compliance with state and federal regulations; providing ongoing education and professional development opportunities for staff; offering outstanding programs and resources to bereaved families; maintaining an active level of involvement within the community; and participating and actively serving in the funeral service profession, according to the statement. Participants are also required to adhere to a Pledge of Ethical Practices.
Founded in 1983 by Peter Kulbacki, 2018 marks 35 years the firm has served the community. To mark the anniversary, the staff decided to do “35 Good Deeds in 35 Days to Mark 35 Years” and spent February and March doing at least one good deed every day, touching more than 35 charitable or community organizations including Ronald McDonald House, Special Olympics, the East Brunswick VFW, Interfaith Network of Care and others. For their 35th Good Deed, the staff baked and wrapped homemade goods for an entire plane of more than 150 military personnel being repositioned; the 737 was being flown by Michael Kulbacki, manager of the funeral home who also happens to be a pilot for United Airlines.
