The First Presbyterian Church (FPC) of Metuchen will sponsor its first Food Pantry Community Service Awards from 3-5 p.m. on Sept. 29.
The ceremony will be held at the FPC Social Center, 270 Woodbridge Ave., Metuchen.
This year, the awards will be given to Tom Giordano, an FPC church member, for his 15 years of dedication to the FPC Food Pantry, and Paul Edgcomb of the Metuchen/Edison YMCA for his commitment to the FPC Food Pantry through the YMCA Togetherhood Program.
Everyone in the community is invited to join this celebration of volunteerism. The FPC Food Pantry Community Service Award was developed to honor persons who are making significant contributions to the community through their time, actions, talents and dedication to the FPC Food Pantry. The honorees were selected based on their compassion, service, and for their striving to make the world a better place through the FPC Food Pantry.
All funds raised from the event will benefit the YMCA of Metuchen/Edison and the FPC Food Pantry. Tickets are $15 per person and include 10 tickets for the event’s tricky tray. Refreshments will be served. Event sponsors include the YMCA of Metuchen/Edison, Big G Movers of Metuchen and FPC.
The FPC Food Pantry provides food to individuals and families in Metuchen and Edison who are in need of food. On average, the FPC Food Pantry distributes food to 60-70 families a month.
