John Bailey is a local legend in South Brunswick.
He was a three-sport standout at South Brunswick High School and played on the school’s 1968 state championship basketball team.
Now, the South Brunswick Hall of Famer is passing on his wisdom to the next generation. On Sept. 29 at Crossroads South Middle School, Bailey will hold a free basketball skills clinic for young players. The clinic, which is officially labeled the South Brunswick Community Hoops & History Basketball Skills Clinic, will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Parents can register their kids for the clinic by emailing Bailey at [email protected].
Clinic drills will focus on ball handling, shooting, footwork, defense and team chemistry. Philadelphia 76ers camp director Kamau Bailey will help lead the drills.
After the clinic, Bailey’s coach on that 1968 championship team, Al Balcomb, will be honored in a ceremony.
To hold the clinic, Bailey is visiting from Denver, Co., where he lives now. Bailey runs his political-community consulting company, Bailey Consulting Network, from Denver.
