MILLSTONE – Al Ferro is the newest member of the Township Committee in Millstone Township.
Ferro was one of three residents recommended for the appointment by the local Republican Party following the resignation of Bob Kinsey, who had served on the committee since 2005. Kinsey resigned from the committee in August and died on Sept. 19 following a lengthy illness.
Prior to being named a member of the committee, Ferro was serving as an alternate member of the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Adjustment. He has resigned from both of those municipal boards.
Ferro, who has lived in Millstone Township since 2000, was appointed by Mayor Gary Dorfman, Deputy Mayor Nancy Grbelja, Committeeman Michael Kuczinski and Committeeman Fiore Masci on Sept. 5.
“Al is a supporter of the township’s ideology and vision,” Dorfman said. “I have had the pleasure of knowing Al through the years.”
Ferro joined the governing body on Sept. 19.
“I would like to welcome Al Ferro to the Township Committee,” Grbelja said. “[He] jumped right in here and I’m sure you (Ferro) will fulfill your part very well.”
“I have big shoes to fill filling Bob’s spot,” Ferro said. “I’ll try my best to do so.”
The final year (2019) of the term Kinsey began serving in January 2017 will be on the election ballot on Nov. 6. According to the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office, Ferro will face Democrat Ray Dothard in the race for the one-year term.
