The Monmouth Civic Chorus will play a salute to our nation’s veterans on the 100th anniversary of the armistice of World War I on Nov. 11.
The free concert will take place at Triumphant Life Church, which is located at 500 Malterer Ave. in Fort Monmouth. The event will run from 4 – 5:30 p.m.
The Monmouth Civic Chorus’ performance will include an emotional and stirring presentation of wartime-inspired music.
Vaughan William’s, Dona Nobis Pacem, and other moving compositions will honor the brave men and women who have served our country. Williams composed Dona Nobis Pacem, a plea for peace, in 1936 as fears of a new “great war” loomed. His texts were taken from the Mass, three poems by Walt Whitman, a political speech and sections of the Bible.
