Gabriel and Rosaria “Sara” Chiappetta of North Brunswick celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15, 2018.
They were married in St. Nicholas Church in Cosenza, Italy, on Sept. 15, 1968. They renewed their vows on their golden anniversary at Our Lady of Peace Church in North Brunswick. The Rev. John Polyak officiated the ceremony. Gabriel and Sara were joined by Dina Chiappetta; Brenda, Chris, Jonathan, Sara and Laura Dailey; and Claudia, Dr. Snehal, Hanna and Devan Patel.
A celebration luncheon followed at Per Tutti Italian Grill in Jamesburg.
Gabriel surprised Sara with a heartfelt poem he wrote to commemorate the occasion:
“To The Love of My Life”
Dear beloved wife,
From the time I met you
And from that moment on
You set my heart in flame.
And today, 50 years later,
That flame is still alive and burning.
It was a blessing, sent to me from above
Today, as we celebrate
Our golden wedding anniversary
With our children and grandchildren
Family and friends,
It is something to remember
That brings back beautiful memories.
On Sept. 15, 1968,
As you walking toward the altar
Of St. Nicholas Church
In the city of Cosenza, Italy,
Your heart was pounding
And my arms were stretching to embrace you
And holding to my heart forever.
Happy anniversary dear wife,
My very best friend,
For caring and sharing
In ways all at your own,
For making me so proud of you.
It was worth the time of waiting
And everything you do.
This brings many thanks and wishes
And a special love to you.
With my perennial love,
Happy anniversary Sara.
I loved you yesterday.
I love you today.
I love you tomorrow.
I love you forever.
