Plans are well underway for the North Brunswick 36th annual Heritage Day, which will take place on from 1-10 p.m. Oct. 6 at North Brunswick Community Park, 2053 Route 130 south. Rain date is Oct. 7.
Andrew Zastko, broker-owner of Gloria Zastko, Realtors, has been involved with Heritage Day for 28 years and has had the privilege of chairing this township-wide event for 20 years. Zastko is a lifetime resident of North Brunswick who believes in giving back to the community.
“I want to give recognition to all committee members who work on a voluntary basis throughout the year, and of course, on the day of the event, and to the township workers who volunteer their time and efforts,” he said.
Zastko invites everyone to join in the “Day of Fun to Become One” to celebrate a collective heritage. With something for everyone, this year’s event features the music of local bands, dancing, food, a beer garden, rides, crafters, a petting zoo, horse and buggy rides, and more. The bands who will take the stage include The Snakes, Swampgrass Jug Band and M’Zume. There will be a dance floor at the front of the stage.
The evening festivities will start with The Ann Marie Chandlee Heritage Day Award ceremony being held at 7 p.m. The ceremony will be followed by the Weeklings as they feature an energetic set of Beatles tunes and power-pop music, and fireworks to cap off the evening.
Gloria Zastko, Realtors sales associates will be at the white tent, offering free horse and buggy rides. The firm will give away its reusable yellow tote bags, smartphone wallets and other paraphernalia.
The event is made possible by grant funding from the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders/Office of Culture and Heritage and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
