Muriel M. White of Hazlet passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018. She was born in New York City, spent most of her childhood and young adult life in Huntington, NY. In 1942, while employed at the Chance Vaught Sikorsky Factory in Stratford, Ct. building fighter planes for the WWII war effort, she met Robert L. White of St. Albans, VT whom she would eventually marry in 1948. Initially living in Brooklyn, NY, they then move to Hazlet, NJ in 1960. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and loving wife, a proud American and a staunch Democrat who loved her books, frequenting the Hazlet public library and caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a communicant of Holy Family RC Church in Union Beach, NJ.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert L. White in 2006 and daughter Aileen M. White in 1958. Muriel is survived by her daughter Sheila A. Kelly and husband Thomas of West Orange, NJ, a daughter Ellen L. Foligno and husband James of Belford, NJ, a son Neil A. White and wife Athena of Leonia, NJ, a son Rory J. White and his fiance Adrian Palacios of Hazlet, NJ and his former wife Melissa Morales of Middletown, NJ and a daughter Kathleen M. Cassandra and husband Christopher of Freehold, NJ. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren and her brother William Manning of Chestnut Ridge, NJ.
Visitation will be held at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport on Monday October 8, 2018 from 4-8pm. A funeral will be held Tuesday 8:30am at the funeral home followed by a 9:30am mass of Christian burial at Holy Family RCC, Union Beach. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY at 11:30am.
