FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has awarded a contract to a company which will install pavilions at two parks in Freehold Township.
On Sept. 25, committee members awarded a $92,600 contract to Whirl Construction Inc. for the installation of pavilions at Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgia Road, and Opatut Park, East Freehold Road.
Whirl Construction was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder on the recommendation of Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Susan McGough, according to a resolution. Other bids were submitted by Cypreco Industries Inc., which bid $216,000, and Empire Construction & Property Management Group Inc., which bid $111,698.
In other business, committee members authorized a contract for 2018 leaf recycling/disposal with Gibson Farms of Freehold Township in an amount not to exceed $35,000. Committee members also authorized a contract with Sigismondi Brothers Farm of Manalapan for 2018 leaf recycling/disposal, also in an amount not to exceed $35,000.
Additionally, the committee authorized a $19,800 contract with Signal Control Products Inc. for four solar-powered, 12-inch circular flashing beacons with push buttons. The beacons will be placed on Elton-Adelphia Road, according to a resolution.
Finally, committee members amended the 2018 municipal budget to insert the following items: $70,000 for a shared services agreement with Wall Township for board of health services; $52,000 for a shared services agreement with government agencies for diesel fuel; $27,000 for a childhood lead exposure prevention grant; $5,347 for a shared services agreement with the Monmouth Regional Health Commission No. 1 for the Health Improvement Coalition Coordinator of Monmouth County; and $5,000 for a shared services agreement with the Visiting Nurse Association Health Group for Culture of Health Coalition Facilitator.
