South Brunswick sends out rabies alert after dog finds dead raccoon

 

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – On Oct. 4, a South Brunswick resident’s dog uncovered a dead raccoon in their backyard in the vicinity of Georges Road and Debra Drive.

The raccoon was retrieved by Animal Control and turned over to the New Jersey Department of Health Laboratory. The state laboratory reported on Oct. 9 that the raccoon tested positive for rabies, according to information provided by the South Brunswick Police Department.

This is the 10th rabid animal reported within Middlesex County for 2018 and the second rabid animal reported in the township, according to the statement.
