Monroe to hold marching band competition on Oct. 20

The Monroe Township High School Marching Band will hold its 12th Annual Home Show on Oct. 20, with at least 13 area high school bands scheduled to participate in the competition.

The event begins at 5 p.m. at the Monroe Township High School football stadium, 200 Schoolhouse Road, Monroe. The Monroe Township High School Music Parents Association is organizing the event.

The 90-student Monroe Township Marching Band will perform its 2018 show Romeo & Juliet at the end of the competition. It performs most weekends in the fall at home football games and at U.S. Bands competitions through mid-November.

The award-winning marching band is under the direction of Alfred Hadinger and Christopher Ciarlariello and visited Hawaii in December 2016 to mark the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The band performed in the Pearl Harbor Day Parade, and was the only marching band from New Jersey to perform at this event.

Admission for the Oct. 20 Band Festival & Competition is $12 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. There will be food, beverages and baked goods/desserts for sale. Visit www.mthsmusic.net for more information.
