TOMS RIVER- Hooper Avenue and Fischer Boulevard were closed down temporarily on Oct. 31 due to what Toms River police called a ‘suspicious incident’.
The roads were reopened a few hours later at 1:30 p.m. that same day.
“At approximately 11 a.m., multiple police units were dispatched to the bus shelter located at the corner of Hooper Ave and Fischer Blvd for a suspicious package. The area was shut down as a precautionary measure until the package could be examined,” said the spokeswoman for the Toms River Police Department ,Jillian Messina.
According to Messina, the New Jersey State Police Bomb Squad responded and determined there was no threat. The area was deemed safe and the roads had been reopened.
