The next meeting of Edison AARP Chapter 3446 will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 19, at Elks Lodge 2487, 375 Old Post Road, Edison.
November’s meeting will include a presentation by the Edison Police Department’s Community Service Officer Keith Jackson. He will give pointers on what to do if someone gets caught in an active shooter event.
During November, the group will collect new unwrapped holiday gifts for veterans at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park. Gifts may include sweatpants, sweatshirts, diabetic socks, deodorant, body wash and other similar items.
Also, each month members are asked to bring non perishable food items for the Middlesex County food bank.
On Dec. 17, the AARP chapter will host a gala holiday luncheon at the Pines Manor, 2085 Route 27, Edison. There will be food, music, dancing and door prizes. The cost is $35 for members and $45 for guests.
