SOUTH AMBOY – Voters of South Amboy re-elected Republican Mayor Fred Henry to his third term.
Henry defeated Democrat Peter Pisar and Independent Brandon Russell.
In the Nov. 6 race for mayor, Henry registered 1,446 votes to defeat Pisar, who received 902 votes, and Russell, who collected 394 votes, according to results posted online by the Middlesex County Clerk’s Office as of Nov. 11.
The election results are unofficial until the county certifies them. The county was still tallying provisional ballots and mail in votes, as of press time.
Henry said, “I would like to take this time to thank the voters of South Amboy for again putting their trust in me to serve as their mayor. There are many who worked hard to get me re-elected and I would especially like to thank Democratic Chairman Bob Dato and the Democratic Committee for all of their efforts. I want to congratulate Mickey Gross and Christine Noble for their victories as council-at-large and I look forward to working with them along with the rest of the council: Brian McLaughlin, Tom Reilly and Zusette Dato.
“We have accomplished much in the past few years but I know there is much to do. Looking forward to the next four years, I will continue to work hard for the citizens of South Amboy and do what is in their best interests. I also want to thank Republican candidate Peter Pisar and Independent candidate Brandon Russell for their efforts in running for mayor. They challenged the voters to come out, they did, and they spoke in large numbers. We are all better for this.”
The results of the election for mayor mirrored how residents of South Amboy voted for New Jersey’s representative to the U.S. Senate.
