Trinity Turkey Trot
Joseph Weber of Tampa, Fla. was the overall race winning at the Trinity Turkey Trot 5k, which was held on Thanksgiving Day in Princeton. Weber covered the course in 16 minutes, 30 seconds, finishing 37 seconds ahead of Nicholas Wey of Princeton, who was second.
Princeton resident Charlotte Bednar, a freshman at The Hun School who won the Mercer County Cross Country championship last month, was the top female finisher with a time of 18:44, finishing 13th overall. Phoebe Whiteside of Princeton was the second female finisher with a time of 19:44.
Mercer County Turkey Trot
Richie Kasper of Robbinsville was the top overall finisher in the Mercer County Turkey Trot 5k, which was held at Mercer County Park in West Windsor on Thanksgiving Day. Kasper covered the course in 16:01 to defeat runner-up George Gochuico of West Windsor, who finished in 17:04.
Kylie Pearce of Newtown, Pa. was the top female finisher, 13th overall, in 18:50. Bryn Gorberg of New York was the second female finisher with a time of 19:22.
Princeton U basketball
The Princeton University men’s basketball team is 3-2 following a 73-59 victory at Maine on Wednesday night. Devin Cannady had 28 points to lead the scoring of the Tigers. Princeton had beaten Monmouth, 60-57, last Saturday as Cannady led the offense with 21 points. Princeton will be the host to George Washington on Saturday at 4 p.m.
The Princeton women fell to 1-7 with a 67-46 loss at Villanova on Wednesday. Gabrielle Rush had 13 points in the setback. The Tigers had dropped all three of their games at the Cancun Challenge last week, including losses to nationally ranked DePaul and Syracuse. Princeton will be home to Davidson on Sunday at 2 p.m.
HONORED
Hun football
Hun School seniors Josh Henderson and Caedan Wallace were honored by the 12th Man Touchdown Club as the Prep Player of the Year and Prep Lineman of the Year, respectively. Henderson, who was also a starter at safety on defense, finished with 80 carries for 833 yards, 10 receptions for 162 yards, and nine touchdowns.
Wallace was a three-year starter on the offensive line and played defensive line the last two seasons. He had 42 registered pancakes on the season in eight games to help the Raiders win the MAPL crown.
COLLEGE
Cameryn Benz
The Montgomery High graduate has started all seven games this season for the Lehigh University women’s basketball team. Benz is averaging 4.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for the Mountain Hawks. She had a season-high 12 points in an 88-62 win at Central Connecticut State on Nov. 10.
Lehigh is 5-2 after suffering a 62-60 loss to Charlotte on Sunday. The Mountain Hawks were scheduled to host Cornell on Thursday.
