The 2018-19 scholastic girls’ basketball season opened on Dec. 14. Here is how the Toms River schools fared.
Toms River High School South
Toms River High School South defeated Southern Regional High School, 38-31, on Dec. 14 in Toms River.
In the victory, senior forward Shiloh Williams was a force on the backboards as she grabbed 20 rebounds. She also produced eight points. Senior guard Ashley Pataky came through in the victory with 11 points.
The Indians faced Central Regional High School on Dec. 18, then Toms River South will square off with in-town rival Toms River High School North on Dec. 20 at Toms River North at 6:30 p.m.
Donovan Catholic High School
Donovan Catholic High School defeated Pinelands Regional High School, 26-16, in Toms River.
In the victory, senior guard Victoria Gelosi led all scorers with eight points. Sophomore guard Jordyn Keating collected six points and nine rebounds, junior forward Jayda Kearney recorded five points and six rebounds and senior forward Nalah Tinsley produced four points and eight boards to contribute to the victory.
The Griffins played against Barnegat High School in Barnegat on Dec. 18. Then Donovan Catholic will face Manchester Township High School on Dec. 21 in Toms River. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
