Five Hun School student athletes, including nationally ranked offensive lineman Caedan Wallace and running back Joshua Henderson, signed National Letters of Intent to play collegiate football on Wednesday during the early signing period.
Wallace, the no. 3 offensive guard recruit in the country, signed a scholarship offer from Penn State. Henderson, the 12th-ranked running back recruit nationally, signed a scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Three other Hun students also signed with Division 1 programs.
Quarterback/wide receiver Jackson Barletta signed with Fordham University, safety/linebacker Brendan Ekwughalu signed with Colgate University, and tight end Dylan Deveney signed with Georgia Tech.
Wallace, from Robbinsville, received scholarship offers from 30 schools. He will play in the All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Jan. 5, which will feature the top-100 high school senior players in the country. And on Jan. 19 he’ll play in Hawaii’s Polynesian Bowl.
“It feels really good to sign and make it official,” said Wallace. “A lot of hard work went into this, for me and my parents; they made a lot of sacrifices. To see it all come to fruition is awesome.”
Henderson, from Pennington, has been ranked the No. 13 recruit in the state, and ranked 12th among running backs in the U.S. He received more than 20 scholarship offers from around the country before settling on North Carolina.
“Hun has been such a great place for me,” said Henderson of his high school career, both academically and athletically. “Everything about Hun has been a positive for me.”
Deveney hails from Medford, while Ekwughalu is from Rahway and Barletta is from New Providence.
