Hazlet man charged with attempting to extort ‘JWoww’

TOMS RIVER – A former boyfriend of Jenni “JWoww” Farley has been charged with attempting to extort thousands of dollars from the Toms River resident.

Farley is one of the stars of the reality television show “Jersey Shore,”

Toms River Police Department spokeswoman Jillian Messina said Thomas Lippolis, 32, of Hazlet, was charged with third degree extortion on Dec. 19. She said Farley and Lippolis dated for almost a year in 2008.

Messina said that on Dec. 17, Farley told police Lippolis had attempted to extort $25,000 from her in exchange for not divulging secrets about her to the media.

“This information had been given to Ms. Farley through her publicist, who had initially received a phone call from Mr. Lippolis demanding the money,” Messina said.
