The Monroe Township Senior Center will institute new evening and weekend programming in 2019.
The new lifestyle and fitness oriented classes, lectures and entertainment are geared toward the township’s active senior community while offering flexible options for those who maintain traditional daytime work hours.
Thursday evening classes begin 6 p.m. on Jan. 10 with ballroom dance, Boomers Fitness Challenge military-style exercise class, Gentle Mat Yoga and Shape It Up strength-building workout.
Saturday morning classes begin at 9 a.m. Jan. 12, with Get Fit Core total body workout and meditation.
Classes run for 10 sessions each at a cost of $40 per person class. The cost for the Ballroom Dance class is $40 per couple. Singles also may register at a reduced price of $25 per person. Best efforts will be made to pair single participants with dance partners.
The new programming includes a “Senior Pop-Up” series of free educational seminars that will be held at 10 a.m. on select Saturdays throughout the year, beginning with Healing with Crystal Bowls on Jan. 12 and Benefits of the Daily Stretch on Jan. 26.
Also new for 2019, the Senior Center will offer featured entertainment one Friday evening per month, depending upon schedule. The first featured performance will be a Country Jamboree, A Traditional Country Music Celebration at 7 p.m. on Jan. 25.
All classes and programs are for registered members of the Senior Center only. No walk-ins will be permitted to participate.
