SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Five South Brunswick police officers were promoted on Jan. 4, just in time for the New Year.
“These officers applied themselves in a challenging promotional process that evaluated their experience, knowledge and ability to perform at the next level. Each of these officers distinguished themselves in their performance and will be an asset to our department,” Chief Raymond Hayducka said in a prepared statement.
Ron Seaman, a 19-year veteran of the South Brunswick Police Department(SBPD), was promoted to captain. Previously, he commanded the Investigations Division and the Office of Professional Standards. He served as alLieutenant and sergeant in the Patrol and Investigations Division, and served as a Field Training sergeant. Prior to that, he was a detective and worked with the FBI Cyber Crimes Task Force.
Seaman coordinated the creation of the South Brunswick Special Needs Registry.
He holds a master’s degree from Seton Hall University and a bachelor’s degree from Kean University.
During his career, he received more than two dozen awards for exceptional service for his investigative and patrol efforts.
Roger Tuohy, a 13-year veteran of the department, was promoted to lieutenant. He was previously a sergeant in the Patrol Division. Prior to that, he served as a detective, Field Training detective, and member of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office’s Narcotics Task Force.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from New Jersey City University.
During his career, he received numerous awards and commendations for his investigative and patrol work.
Jeffrey Russo, a 19-year veteran of the department, was promoted to lieutenant. Previously, he was a sergeant in the Investigations Division. Prior to that he was assigned for two years to a DEA Task Force targeting opioid distribution. He has served as a sergeant in the Patrol Division and as range master for the Firearms Unit. Prior to that, he was a detective, a member of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office’s Narcotics Task Force and a School Resource Officer.
He holds a master’s degree from Seton Hall University.
During his career, he received 27 awards and commendations for the work he did in patrol and investigations.
Eric Tighelaar, a 15-year veteran of the department, was promoted to sergeant. He was most recently assigned as a detective in the Investigations Division. He has served as a firearms instructor, field training officer, School Resource Officer, and a member of South Brunswick Police Department’s Emergency Response Team.
He was previously employed as an investigator for the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from King’s College.
He has received several commendations during his career including the Medal of Valor for capturing an armed homicide suspect.
Dennis Yuhasz, a 14-year veteran of the department, was promoted to sergeant. He was previously assigned as a detective in the Investigations Division. He has served in the Patrol Division and as a member of South Brunswick Police Department’s Emergency Response Team, Honor Guard, Firearms Unit, as a Field Training detective, and public information officer.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University.
He has received 21 awards and letters of commendation including a Life Saving Medal and a Medal of Valor Award for capturing an armed murder suspect.
