HOWELL – Police are searching for two men who entered a home in the Point O’ Woods development and robbed a resident at gunpoint on Jan. 9.
The development is off Bergerville Road, near Route 9 south, Howell.
A press release distributed by the Howell Police Department states that at 2:30 a.m., a 27-year-old male resident of Sequoia Court called 911 to report he was the victim of an armed home invasion conducted by two individuals.
One suspect was described as a white male believed to be in his early 20’s, with a thin build, about 5-feet, 11-inches tall. The individual was wearing a black ski mask.
A second suspect was described as a light skinned Hispanic male with big lips, bushy eyebrows, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, weighing between 195 and 200 pounds. The individual was wearing an orange wool ski mask with a hole exposing the center of his face.
Police said one man was armed with a handgun which had a flashlight and a laser mounted to it. As the resident attempted to defend himself, he was assaulted by one suspect while the second suspect encouraged his accomplice to shoot the resident. Police said no shots were fired during the incident.
The two individuals ransacked the residence in an apparent attempt to look for specific items they had knowledge may have been there, according to police. The suspects stole a Gucci handbag and fled in a grey/silver SUV. The resident sustained what police described as a minor injury.
Police said that based upon evidence retrieved from inside the residence, they believe the crime was an isolated incident specific to that location and/or resident. Police do not believe the incident was a random act.
