Freehold Township increases fees for parking lot permits

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has adopted an ordinance that will increase fees for commuter parking permits in Freehold Township’s municipal lots. The ordinance took effect on Jan. 1.

The fee for the first vehicle in any household will increase from $100 to $150 per year; the fee for any vehicle other than the first registered in any household will increase from $100 to $150 per year; the fee for any vehicle owned by a non-resident will increase from $200 to $250 per year; and the daily permit will increase from $2 to $5, according to the ordinance.

In other business, committee members authorized a one-year contract with Allied Services Inc. for the purchase of equipment for instrumentation used in the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for Freehold Township’s utilities department. According to a resolution, the purchase of the equipment is not to exceed $40,000.

And, committee members authorized a one-year contract not to exceed $40,000 with Suburban Transit Corporation for charter bus service for parks and recreation programs.

Finally, the committee amended contracts for sports camp director services.

Officials said a previous resolution awarded Todd Briggs, the director of the township’s spring track and field camp, a contract not to exceed $7,000. A contract for Briggs to direct the fall track and field camp was also not to exceed $7,000, for a total payment not to exceed $14,000.

Committee members said the track and field camps are attracting more participants than expected and raised the total amount of the payments to the director to an amount not to exceed $18,500.
