Count Basie announces availability of annual scholarship awards

The Count Basie Center for the Arts has announced the availability of its annual Arts Impact scholarships to Monmouth County high school seniors graduating in 2019.

The Count Basie Center for Arts. which is located in Red Bank, will offer four scholarships: the Moser Taboada Arts Impact Scholarship, Steven and Jaime Schultz Arts Impact Scholarship, the Siciliano Landscape Company Arts Impact Scholarship and the Monmouth County Freeholders Basie Scholarship for Continuing Education.

The Monmouth County Freeholders’ scholarship will be awarded to a student attending a New Jersey-based college in the fall. Each scholarship will provide a recipient $2,500 toward their freshman year of higher education.

The new Bank of America Arts Matter Impact Award is also available. The scholarship awards $2,500 to a graduating senior who best demonstrates the impact of the arts in their life.

Students may apply for each scholarship by visiting thebasie.org/arts-impact-scholarships.

Deadline for this year’s applications is 4 p.m. on March 22. Recipients will be announced on stage at the 14th Annual Basie Awards on May 22. The Basie Awards, sponsored by Bank of America, recognizes excellence in Monmouth County high school theatre.

“We know that the arts play a significant role in the development of all minds – from actual artists to the scientists or doctors of tomorrow. These awards seek to recognize those who have experienced for themselves the engaging power of the arts,” she continued.
