JACKSON – Terence M. Wall is the new business administrator in Jackson, directing the daily operation of the community of 56,000 residents.
Wall began working in Jackson on Jan. 23. The business administrator’s position carries a salary of $145,000. He was hired by Mayor Michael Reina and the Township Council.
Wall succeeds Helene Schlegel, who held the position from Jan. 1, 2015 through Dec. 31 2018.
“This is a wonderful opportunity and I appreciate Mayor Reina’s confidence in me to deliver value to the residents of the township. I look forward to addressing the opportunities and challenges they are navigating,” he said.
Wall has previously worked as the business administrator in Cranford and North Arlington, and as the borough manager in Keansburg.
He said he is “working hard getting to know the folks who are part of making Jackson great from an administrative standpoint and delivering the services the taxpayers expect and deserve.”
“I thank (Jackson) for the opportunity to serve and folks should feel very, very comfortable contacting our offices directly. We are dedicated to service to the community from each and every department.
“I look forward to getting to know the folks more and basically I want them to feel very comfortable reaching out at any time. An open door policy is something I emphasize as well,” Wall said.
The new business administrator said he is looking forward to getting great things done on behalf of Reina, the council and the community.
Wall has experience serving his own community of residence as a public official. He is a former member of the Holmdel Township Committee and is a current member of the Holmdel Township Schools Board of Education.
In other business during a recent meeting, the council adopted an ordinance authorizing the sale of municipal land that is not needed for public use.
The properties known as 511, 555, 575 and 589 Brush Ave. were sold to Faraday Ave. Property, LLC, after a total bid of $920,000. The sale includes the condition that the properties may only be used in accordance with the permitted and conditional uses allowed in the Industrial Zone.
And, council members adopted an ordinance vacating all of the rights, title and interest of the township for the entire length of Edward Drive. Raven Land Group, LLC, will be responsible for the street, according to the ordinance.
Edward Drive is off Massachusetts Avenue between Nostrand Avenue and Prospect Street.
