FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has awarded a contract estimated at $28,637 for an annual event that assists local efforts to help prevent substance abuse.
On Feb. 12, Freehold Township officials awarded a contract to the Battleground Country Club, Manalapan, to host the annual Freehold Township Municipal Alliance Golf Outing in 2019.
According to a resolution, the fee for a golfer will be $198 and the estimated total amount for the event is $28,637, with an estimated attendance of 144 golfers.
No other bids were submitted to host the event, according to the resolution. The Battleground Country Club has hosted the event in past years.
The golf outing benefits the Alliance to Prevent Substance Abuse, a joint effort between Freehold Township and Freehold Borough. The alliance provides substance abuse awareness planning and programming for residents of both towns.
In other business, committee members authorized an additional payment of $14,606 to Starlite Electric, which was awarded a contract for as-needed electrical service work in Freehold Township in 2018.
The additional funds include $7,721 to upgrade the lighting in the Recreation Activity Center and $6,885 for an emergency repair of damaged underground electrical conduit at the Recreation Administrative Building. Both facilities are in Michael J. Tighe Park, Georgia Road.
According to a memorandum, the emergency repair of the damaged underground electrical conduit resulted from the conduit being damaged while concrete was being removed in front of the administrative building. Power was lost in portions of the building and the situation created a safety hazard by exposing high voltage power lines.
And, committee members renewed a shared services agreement with Marlboro for municipal court administration services. According to the agreement, Freehold Township will provide municipal court administrative services on an as-needed basis to Marlboro.
Finally, the committee authorized an agreement with the Paul M. McGuire Family Health Center/I Beseech Thee, a nonprofit corporation, to provide health care services to uninsured individuals during 2019.
