The American College of Cardiology has recognized CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, for developing and sharing quality practices that optimize the care and outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome. CentraState was awarded ACC Chest Pain Center Accreditation in December 2018 based on an on-site evaluation of the staff’s ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack, along with demonstrating ACC best practice guidelines for patients with acute coronary syndrome are in practice. “We are proud of the ACC’s accreditation because it is a testament to our commitment to providing quick and efficient care to save the lives and improve outcomes of patients with acute coronary syndrome,” said Laurie Gambardella, administrative director, Emergency Services, CentraState. “At CentraState, we make it a top priority to give patients the tools they need to make significant lifestyle adjustments in order to reduce their chance for another heart event in the future.”

Homesense, the newest store from the HomeGoods family of stores, will open in the Epicenter, Route 9, Manalapan, on Feb. 28. The store offers large-scale furniture, a rug emporium, a lighting department and a “general store” featuring everything from hardware to storage needs. Customers will also be able to shop for seasonal items including outdoor entertaining must-haves and holiday decor, as well as unique artwork, decorative accessories and gift-wrapping essentials.
iPlay America, an indoor family entertainment and events center in Freehold Township, announced that Adam Livow has joined iPlay America as executive chef and will be working with the vice president of food and beverage, Kevin Hayes Jr., to develop menus and set the culinary direction for Game Time Bar & Grill, the Event Center @iPA and the new Top Golf Swing Suite. Livow previously served as the original executive chef in 2011 and enjoyed a three-year stint with the organization. He has more than 15 years of food and beverage experience. Mathew Marini has been hired as manager of Game Time Bar & Grill and Top Golf Swing Suite and will focus on the overall restaurant experience and leading the front of the house staff. He brings to the role 15 years of experience in the food service industry, with a specific focus on the front of the house.

CentraState Healthcare System, Freehold Township, announced that Dr. Moustafa Shafey, medical director of psychiatric services at CentraState Medical Center, has been awarded Distinguished Life Fellowship designation by the American Psychiatric Association. Distinguished Fellowship is awarded to psychiatrists who have made significant contributions to the psychiatric profession in several areas. Shafey has been on the staff of CentraState and medical director of psychiatric services since 1992. He will be honored at the American Psychiatric Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco in May.
CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, announced that urogynocologist Dr. Martin P. Michalewski has been named the new medical director of the Urogynecology and Pelvic Medicine Program. Michalewski helped pioneer several urogynecologic laparoscopic procedures that have improved the quality of life for many women who experienced urinary incontinence, cystocele, rectocele, uterine/vaginal prolapse, pelvic pain, bleeding, fibroids and other gynecological conditions.
Freehold letter carriers Rick Raimondo, George Bosko, Jeffrey Harness, Bruce Stallworth, Richard Minneci, Robert Beachley and Donna LaMirande have joined the thousands of United States Postal Service employees who have individually driven more than one million accident-free miles. The letter carriers were recognized during a ceremony on Feb. 14 at the Freehold Post Office, Village Center Drive, Freehold Township.
