Fuel spill closes Route 9 in Marlboro

MARLBORO – As of 1:45 p.m. today, Feb. 22, all lanes remained closed on Route 9 between Union Hill Road in Marlboro and Texas Road at the border of Marlboro and Old Bridge, according to the website 511.org.

Detours have been posted as emergency response crews continue to clean up a fuel spill that occurred during a crash this morning involving a tanker truck at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 520.

As of 1:30 p.m., there were delays on Route 18 southbound approaching Exit 29 – Tennent Road and Route 520, as a result of the accident on Route 9, according to 511.org.

A message posted on the Marlboro Township, NJ Facebook page states that local businesses are being evacuated due to oil spills, and that hazardous materials crews are at the scene.
