Reformed Church Home caregiver recognized for excellence in nursing

OLD BRIDGE – Sally Kabineh, a licensed practical nurse at Reformed Church Home (RCH), has received the Excellence in Direct Care Award for 2018 from LeadingAge NJ, the statewide association for not-for-profit senior living communities.

The award recognizes frontline professionals for competency in nursing abilities, dedication to resident quality of life, compassion, and dignity for the elders they serve.

Kabineh began working at RCH in August 2000 as a certified nurse’s assistant (CNA) and has distinguished herself through her kindness and care for the elderly.

“As a CNA, Sally always went above and beyond her job responsibilities to support the nursing staff and to take exceptional care of her residents,” Evangeline Villanueva, director of Nursing at RCH, said in a prepared statement. “Based on her passion, she decided to return to school part time while simultaneously working as an aide at RCH. Sally obtained her LPN license in 2011 and we were thrilled that she returned to full-time work as a nurse.”

Kabineh works primarily on the sub-acute rehabilitation floor but frequently covers on the long term nursing care floors as well.

“Sally is exceptionally loyal and dedicated to the home. She loves to hug her residents and develops a great rapport with them, always finding something to talk about, compliment, or praise in the residents under her care. She embodies the Christian spirit we embrace here at RCH,” Kate Shepard, executive director of RCH for the past 19 years, said in the statement.
