FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – A contract has been awarded by the Township Committee for grass cutting and related maintenance throughout Freehold Township.
On Feb. 26, committee members awarded a two-year, $452,166 contract to On-Site Landscape Management, Millstone Township, for grass cutting and related maintenance for 2019 and 2020.
The amount includes grass cutting and related maintenance at parks, athletic fields, schools, storm water management facilities and open space parcels, according to a resolution.
No other contractors submitted bids, according to the resolution. On-Site Landscape Management also submitted a bid of $226,083 for 2021, but only 2019 and 2020 were awarded on the recommendation of purchasing agent Andrea DiGiovanni.
In other business, the committee introduced an ordinance appropriating $55,000 for a project to install sidewalks at Opatut Park, East Freehold Road. A public hearing on the ordinance is scheduled for March 26. The committee may adopt the ordinance that evening.
And, committee members authorized an application for a historical preservation grant in the amount of $7,500 from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection for restoration and preservation efforts at the West Freehold School, Wemrock Road, through the process of including the one-room school on the National Register of Historic Places.
According to the resolution, Freehold Township owns and controls the project site.
