MARLBORO – Bryan F. O’Hare has been promoted from lieutenant to the rank of captain in the Marlboro Police Department. He was sworn in to his new position during a ceremony at Town Hall on March 8.
Mayor Jon Hornik said, “Lt. O’Hare has served as a Marlboro police officer since 2002 as a patrol officer, patrol sergeant, platoon lieutenant and administrative lieutenant, thereby gaining experience in many facets of police duties. I have full confidence his breadth of experience will be an asset to the department.
“This is a critical time for the police department. The provisional appointment of Peter Pezzullo as deputy chief in conjunction with Lt. O’Hare’s promotion to captain will ensure police are prepared and that the transition is seamless when Chief (Bruce) Hall retires this fall,” the mayor said.
O’Hare worked as a police officer in Keansburg for four years before becoming a Marlboro police officer in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Sacred Heart University and will complete a master’s degree in administrative science from Fairleigh Dickinson University this spring.
In addition to being a certified public manager, he has certifications in SCUBA search and recovery, FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association and numerous supervisor training certificates, according to the mayor.
Hall will retire in September when he attains the mandatory retirement age for police officers in New Jersey, 65. Hall has served Marlboro for more than 40 years, including almost 10 years as police chief.
