Motorist have been advised that Hamilton Road will be closed between Route 206 and North Willow Road in Hillsborough Township.
Hillsborough Borough Police Chief Darren Powell recently made this announcement, which coincides with the Route 206 by-pass construction project.
“Please exercise caution and patience when traveling through this area,” Powell said.
Along with other scheduled projects and improvements along Route 206, township officials said the by-pass project is aimed to help advance the township’s town center plans and improve mobility for residents and commuters.
According to township officials, this road closure is anticipated to last approximately 12 months.
Officials said the roadway is open for local traffic only from Route 206 to Central Jersey Nurseries on the western portion and Old Somerville Road to the CSX Rail Bridge on the eastern portion.
Police officials are encouraging motorists to plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time through the area during peak periods. This would also include Amwell Road near North Willow Road and Sunnymead Road and Falcon Road.
Officials said that construction of the final phase of the by-pass will begin in the Spring of 2019, with the anticipated completion in 2020.
