Fireworks will return to raceway on July 3

FREEHOLD – A traditional display of fireworks will return to Freehold Raceway, Park Avenue, to celebrate Independence Day.

During a recent meeting, members of the Borough Council authorized a license agreement with FR Park Racing, LP, for the presentation of the 2019 fireworks display. This year’s event at Freehold Raceway is scheduled for July 3 (rain date, July 7).

FR Park Racing has been granted the right to host the fireworks display and a family friendly concert. Freehold Borough retains the exclusive rights to provide all food and beverages for the event.

In other business, council members passed a resolution honoring the First Presbyterian Church of Freehold on its 180th anniversary.

And, council members authorized a $38,382 compensation payment to Glenn Roberts upon his retirement as police chief of the Freehold Borough Police Department. Roberts retired on March 1.

Finally, the council confirmed the appointment of Richard Frascati and Ivan Sanchez as police officers in the borough, pending the successful completion of training requirements.
