FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP – The Township Committee has awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of two wells at Freehold Township’s water treatment plant.
On March 12, committee members awarded the $137,050 contract to A.C. Shultes Inc., Woodbury Heights, for the rehabilitation of well No. 7 and well No. 10 at the Jackson Mills water treatment plant. A.C. Shultes was awarded the contract as the lowest bidder, according to a resolution.
Other bids were submitted by Municipal Maintenance Co., Cinnaminson, which bid $166,898, and Uni-Tech Drilling Co. Inc., Franklinville, which bid $177,260.
In other business, committee members approved a $26,050 reduction in a contract with VMG Group for roofing replacements at several municipal buildings.
According to the resolution, a $682,000 contract was awarded to VMG Group in 2017. The first change order totaled $3,690 and the second change order totaled $9,387, increasing the contract to $695,077 in 2018. The third change order will decrease the contract to $669,027.
The reduction was made on the recommendation of Spiezle Architectural Group, the township’s architect, and Director of Facilities Thomas Muh due to an increase in some contract quantities and a decrease in other contract quantities, according to resolution.
In their reports, the architect and the director of facilities informed committee members the project has been completed.
