The Middletown Township Fire Department was dispatched to a working school bus fire at 63 Tindall Rd., Middletown, at 7:15 a.m. on April 11, according to a press release from the Middletown Township Fire Department.
Fire Chief Steven Schweizer ordered the first arriving units to perform fire suppression and deploy two attack lines into the bus, according to the press release.
The occupants of the school bus self-evacuated, according to the press release. A Large Diameter Hose (LDH) was deployed from a nearby hydrant which delivered water to scene.
Middletown Township Fire Department Special Services were dispatched and assigned to contain fuel leakage. Thermal imaging cameras ensured that the fire was detected and extinguished, according to the press release.
The fire was under control by 7:40 a.m. All units were cleared from the scene at 9:40 a.m. No firefighter injuries were reported while operating at the scene. Middletown EMS provided firefighter rehabilitation and medical services, according to the press release.
The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Marshall’s office.
