Registration is underway for the second annual Om Memorial 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk Event, which will be held on May 19 at Thompson Park, Monroe. The race begins at 7:30 a.m.
The event is organized in memory of Om Parikh, who was a 13 year–old student at Monroe Township Middle School when he lost his battle to brain cancer in February 2018.
The event raises funds in support of the nonprofit Om Foundation, which supports various programs and initiatives that bring smiles, positive attitudes, and the power of perseverance to school-aged children. It supports youth development and community engagement. The Om Foundation also provides financial and other assistance to children fighting cancer, as well as support for education and research that helps prevent or terminate childhood cancer.
