The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Community Solar pilot program will be outlined at a free event at Terhune Orchard’s Winery tasting room at 330 Cold Soil Road in Lawrence Township on May 2 at 7 p.m.
The event is being co-sponsored by Sustainable Lawrence, the Lawrence Green Team and Sustainable Princeton.
Sustainable Lawrence member Michael Winka, who formerly managed the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities’ Clean Energy Program, and Sustainable Princeton Executive Director Molly Jones will talk about the Community Solar pilot program.
The Community Solar pilot program allows any customer of a public electric utility to participate in a solar project, without having solar panels on his or her property.
The community solar facility could be on a neighborhood parking lot, on the common space in a condominium development or on an affordable housing building with the power divided among the building’s low-income residents.
