JFK Medical Center earns Gold Seal for Wound Care Certification

Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Wound Care Certification. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects the Center for Wound Healing at JFK Medical Center’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care.

The Center for Wound Healing underwent a rigorous on-site review in February. Joint Commission experts evaluated compliance with national disease-specific care standards as well as with wound care-specific requirements. Clinical practice guidelines and performance measures also were assessed.

“Our Center for Wound Healing thoroughly demonstrated a high-level of care for our patients,” said Amie Thornton, chief hospital executive, JFK Medical Center. “I commend our team members for helping JFK Medical Center become a leader in wound care and providing a higher standard of service for patients with chronic wounds in our community.”

Established in 2002 and awarded for a two-year period, The Joint Commission’s Wound Care Certification evaluates clinical programs across the entire continuum of patient care.

“I’m extremely proud we received this important certification from The Joint Commission, the premier health care quality improvement and accrediting body in the nation,” said Dr. Gary Bruce Brietbart, medical director, Center for Wound Healing. “This certification reinforces our belief that we have created a culture of excellence in wound care and provide our patients with the high-quality care they deserve.”
