Hopewell Valley Democratic Club will hold events in May

The Hopewell Valley Democratic Club will hold two events in May in an effort to educate and enlighten the community.

The organization’s first event with be their May Coffee and Connection, according to officials.

“The event is on May 3 and is designed to connect with local Democrats to discuss the issues of the day and enjoy free coffee. Individuals are welcome from 7:30-9 a.m. at Sourland Coffee on 250 S. Main St., in Pennington,” said Nadine Stern, Recording Secretary Hopewell Valley Democratic Club.

The next event is on May 14, which will be a monthly meeting on gun violence prevention, according to officials.

“The presentation will be by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots organization dedicated to preventing gun injuries and deaths through education, advocacy, and promotion of common-sense gun laws,” Stern said.

“The presentation will include a brief history of the organization, their relationship with guns in America, the connection between gun violence and intimate partner violence, the major goals of Moms Demand Action, how they work to reach their goals, and how to get involved in the movement.”

The presentation will take place at the Hopewell Branch Library located on 245 Titusville Road in Pennington from 7-8:30 p.m. The library is located next to Hopewell Valley Central High School.
