The Jackson Police Department reported the following incidents occurred in the township:
• At 6:31 p.m. April 27, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop with the driver of a 2005 Infiniti on Azalea Circle after they observed motor vehicle violations. When the officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the 19-year-old male driver was directed to exit the vehicle.
A female juvenile passenger was also directed to exit the vehicle. When she did so, the officers observed she was holding an unknown pill. As the officers attempted to take the pill, the female struggled with them and refused to give up the pill or to follow directions. Police said she was arrested and charged with possession of a prescription legend drug not prescribed to her (an Oxycodone pill), obstruction of the administration of the law and resisting arrest.
Police said a search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of marijuana and a scale. The driver was arrested. During processing at headquarters, the driver was found to be in possession of a bag of suspected methamphetamine. He was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, disregard of a stop sign, possession of a controlled dangerous substance while operating a motor vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving with an expired driver’s license and failure to have the vehicle inspected.
At 4:07 a.m. April 26, officers responded to investigate a report of a motor vehicle crash on Fern Court. Police said a 24-year-old male was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane.
At 2:56 a.m. April 28, officers responded to Oakland Drive to investigate a report of a suspicious motor vehicle. Police said a 37-year-old female was charged with driving while intoxicated.
At 11:59 p.m. April 28, officers responded to Hope Chapel Road to investigate a report of a vehicle being driving in an erratic manner. Police said the vehicle was located and stopped. The 40-year-old male driver was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
At 9:45 p.m. April 26, officers observed a vehicle parked in the travel lane of Violet Lane and when it was checked, a male was observed in the reclined driver’s seat and the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the open sunroof.
When the driver opened the door and was directed to step out of the car, he refused to do so and attempted to close the door on the officer. A struggle ensued and the driver was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.
Police said the 24-year-old male resident of Newark was charged with obstruction of the administration of the law, resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses.
At 3:44 p.m. April 27, officers responded to the Adidas store at the Jackson Premium Outlets, Route 537, to investigate a report of shoplifting. Police said store employees reported that merchandise valued in excess of $500 had been stolen from the business.
