Lara Michaud of Allentown has stepped down from her position on the Upper Freehold Regional School District Board of Education.
Michaud was one of Allentown’s two representatives on the board.
Kurt Wayton is currently the board’s only representative from Allentown.
Michaud joined the board in 2016. She was appointed to fill a vacant seat for the remainder of 2016 and won a full three-year term in that year’s general election. Her resignation became effective April 14 and board members accepted her resignation April 17.
During a meeting of the Millstone Township K-8 School District Board of Education on April 29, board member Billy Hanson, who is Millstone’s representative on the Upper Freehold Regional board, said Michaud’s resignation was due to a change in her work schedule.
In a statement, district administrators said, “On behalf of the Upper Freehold Regional School District, we would like to thank Mrs. Michaud for her service as a member of the Board of Education.”
Board members are expected to interview individuals who express interest in the position and name an Allentown resident to succeed Michaud in the near future.
Upper Freehold Regional serves school-age residents of Upper Freehold Township and Allentown. The board is comprised of seven Upper Freehold residents and two Allentown residents.
Through a send-receive relationship between Upper Freehold Regional and Millstone Township, students of high school age who live in Millstone attend Allentown High School. As Millstone’s representative on the regional board, Hanson votes on matters that pertain to the high school.
