RUMSON – A male and female riding a motorcycle died as the result of striking a motor vehicle on May 18 in Rumson, announced Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
John J. Berry Jr., 29, of Atlantic Highlands, and his passenger, Stephanie Hogan 28, of Red Bank, were riding a 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle westbound on Hartshorne Road, approaching the intersection of Navesink Avenue where Hartshorne Road becomes Ridge Road, when they struck a 2019 Jeep Wrangler at approximately 7:20 p.m., Gramiccioni said.
Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle and sustained life-threatening injuries. Berry and Hogan were pronounced dead at the scene at 8:02 p.m, Gramiccioni said.
The driver of the Wrangler and one passenger, both minors, stopped and remained on scene, Gramiccioni said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Rumson Police Department and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART).
