East Brunswick Memorial Day ceremony to include presentation of wreaths, dedication of tribute pavers

The Township of East Brunswick’s Annual Memorial Day Observance will be held at 1 p.m. on May 26, rain or shine, in Veterans Park at the East Brunswick Municipal Complex, 1 Jean Walling Civic Center Dr.

The program will include a ceremony, flag raising, presentation of wreaths, dedication of veterans tribute pavers and a mini patriotic concert.

 

Participating veterans groups include the Vietnam Veterans of America; Jewish War Veterans Post 311; AMVETS Post 34; VFW Post 133; VFW Post 133 Auxiliary; and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Guest speaker will be Captain Ithan B. Zimmer, USN (Retired). Other program participants include members of the U.S. Naval Sea Cadets Corp serving as wreath bearers, the East Brunswick High School Brass Choir, the East Brunswick Community Chorus, and East Brunswick student Phoebe Struminger will sing “God Bless America.” East Brunswick Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will also be on hand to assist with the Color Guard and Honor Guard.

The public is invited to attend. Visitors can view the Hometown Heroes Wall inside the lobby of the East Brunswick Municipal Building.

A new addition to the program this year is the Field of Flags which will be located adjacent to Veterans Park.

The event is sponsored by the Township of East Brunswick, Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services and the East Brunswick Veterans Alliance.
