The Social Center of the First Presbyterian Church of Metuchen invites the community to join Amanda Ripley, journalist and author of “Finding Our Civility” to explore how communities can maintain mutual respect for differences, yet share the common values of their hometown, at 6 p.m. on June 6 at the Social Center 270 Woodbridge Ave., Metuchen.
After a discussion about a first-of-its-kind analysis conducted using an original national poll, voter registration files, and other large data sets, Ripley will comment on places which were identified and are distinct from other parts of America. These are places where people can disagree on politics, but still give one another the benefit of the doubt.
Tickets are $20 per person, which include dinner, desserts and drinks.
There will also be a silent auction at the event.
Tickets can be purchased at www.eventbrite.com/e/finding-our-civility-tickets-61251356456 or at fpcweb.org.
