New owner: No changes planned for Cabin

HOWELL – The new owner of The Cabin, the rustic bar and grill on Route 33, Howell, said there are no plans for significant changes to the business.

On May 7, the Howell Township Council authorized the transfer of the retail alcoholic beverage consumption license for the Cabin from 984 Route 33 Associates to LRG Associates LLC.

LRG Associates LLC is a subsidiary of Chefs International, the company that purchased the Cabin. The sale of the Cabin closed on May 8.

Bob Cooper, the president of Chefs International, said it will be “business as usual, we opened the same day (May 8), it never closed. We love the Cabin, that’s why we bought it. Roddy and Tom Cunliffe did a great job there for many years. They do a lot of business and we see no reason to change it.”

Cooper said there are no plans to make significant changes to the restaurant.

“(The Cabin) is going to keep the same theme. We might, as Tom and Rod did over the years, change a menu item here or there, but we are not planning any significant changes. It is the same staff, everybody who was working there is still working there if they wanted to,” Cooper said.

“We are really excited to have (The Cabin). All of our restaurants are in Monmouth and Ocean counties,” Cooper said. “We want to continue the local feel of The Cabin; we really love what they are doing out there. I have been friends with Rod for a long time, and when it became available, we jumped all over it.”

The Chefs International website indicates the company operates, among other locations, Jack Baker’s Lobster Shanty, Point Pleasant Beach; Moore’s Tavern and Sports Bar, Freehold Township; the Anchor Tavern, Belmar; Escondido, Freehold Township; and the Wharfside Patio Bar, Point Pleasant Beach.
