MARLBORO – The eighth annual STOMP the Monster 5K Run and Festival will take place at the Marlboro Recreation Center, Wyncrest Road, on June 2.
The Kids Stomp will begin at 8:45 a.m., a 1-mile run/health walk will begin at 9:05 a.m. and the 5K race will begin at 9:30 a.m. The Kids Stomp will be small races (50, 100 and 200 meters) for children between the ages of 2 and 10.
Entry fees are $15 for the Kids Stomp, $25 for the 1-mile run/health walk and $35 for the 5K race.
The event helps to support the STOMP the Monster charity which assists cancer patients and their families with daily needs such as food, transportation to treatment, gas, assistance with bills and child care.
STOMP the Monster will have a beer garden opening at 10 a.m., post-race food and entertainment, including a DJ, an arcade truck, face painting and games.
The top three male and female finishers in the 5K race will receive the following awards: $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. Every child who participates in the 5K race or in the Kids Stomp will receive a finisher ribbon or a medal.
Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Marlboro Recreation Center; at the Marlboro Library; and on side streets off Kennedy Drive, according to a press release.
Anyone who wishes to participate may pre-register at stompthemonster.org until 11:59 p.m. May 30, or they may register in person on June 2 starting at 7:30 a.m. All participants will receive a T-shirt.
