Five people injured following near head on crash on State Street in Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE – Police are continuing to investigate a near head on crash on State Street, which left five people injured, according to Patrolman Gennaro Destefano.

The motor vehicle crash occurred at 1:42 a.m. on June 9 involving a 1985 Mazda RX-7 driven by a 41-year-old Florida man and another vehicle driven by a 36-year-old Allentown, Pennsylvania, woman, who had another adult and two children – ages 8 and 12 – in the vehicle, Destefano said.

All the people involved were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and treated.

The Florida man was the only one in the Mazda. He suffered neck and back injuries including a fractured skull. He remains in critical, but stable condition, Destefano said.

The people in the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries and released.

Destefano said the eight-year-old boy in the vehicle had suffered a black out during the incident.
